The Intrepid Fox in Wardour street used to have a "No ties, No football shirts" rule.

I saw on a couple of occasions suited up business men come in for a lunchtime drink (which they were welcome to do - they would take money off anyone) and stand at the bar gazing at the walls and ceiling covered in posters for rock gigs and clubs. Then they would ask the six foot dreadlocked tattooed rock monster behind the bar (she was a lovely girl reeely) for a G&T.
"Certainly sir, but you will have to remove that tie first. House rules"
And they did.
